Chartered loss adjustor and claims specialist QuestGates has appointed Altius Vendor Assessment to review and assess all its UK contractors working on insurance repairs to buildings.
Howard Lloyd-Jones, Technical Manager for QuestGates, said: "The Altius online assessment system enables us to develop a trusted, vetted and assured panel of approved and accredited suppliers. We have full access to the system, which gives us visibility of our supply chain, allowing easy access, review and Interrogation of the individual suppliers.
"We believe that it is essential that all suppliers undergo an annual review to prove that they have the necessary safety procedures, financial strength and insurances in place. The Altius model performs real-time checks which ensure that this information is always up to date."
He added, "In some areas of our business, suppliers were previously vetted internally but after reviewing a number of contractor assessment services we felt that the Altius system provided a more professional approach to compliance and greater protection for our business. They understand the insurance industry and have a detailed assessment process that stands out as a market leading solution."
Source new suppliers
QuestGates is able to select from the national network of assured Altius contractors to identify new suppliers to fill any gaps in its supply chain. This also provides its existing suppliers, who gain compliance, with an opportunity to win new business with other Altius client companies. These include: Punch Taverns, Trust Inns, Airbus, Morrison's, Selfridges, SGP Property and Facilities Management, Wolseley, Arcadia Group and Superdrug.
Gary Plant, Managing Director of Altius Vendor Assessment, said: “We're delighted to welcome Questgates to the Altius client network and to provide them with assurance that all their contractors have met stringent compliance and commercial checks.”
Accreditation and management system
The Altius online supplier accreditation and management system takes an evidence-based approach to checking supplier competences – from health and safety compliance through to financial health, environmental performance, customer service and corporate social responsibility.
Assessment can be tailored to the specific tasks individual contractors will perform and new criteria can be added to reflect new regulations, or requirements.
Altius offers a managed service to clients and main contractors to ensure total supply chain compliance. This is usually provided free to clients and main contractors, with vendors paying a small annual subscription fee.
Altius is a member of Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP), providing its assured vendors with the widest possible recognition of their status under mutual recognition arrangements.
