New SSIP Portal

Posted by Altius on Apr 18, 2011 2:58:15 PM

For contractors and designers working in construction, Altius’s membership of SSIP continues to deliver savings in time and money through mutual recognition, and the new Altius-built SSIP Portal makes checking companies’ status much easier.

Safety Schemes in Procurement (SSIP) is an umbrella organisation that facilitates mutual recognition between health & safety pre-qualification schemes. Altius are fully approved and audited members of SSIP. All of our Health and Safety assessors have a minimum of NEBOSH certificate and are trained and certificated to carry out assessments to CDM 2007 Regulations Core Criteria by the International Register of Certificated Auditors (IRCA), the world’s leading auditor training and certification body.

What this means is that not only do vendors and clients enjoy the peace of mind of knowing that Altius Risk Management assessments are dealt with correctly, robustly, fairly and professionally, but also that the assessment meets the initial requirements of hundreds of clients and potential clients in both private and public sectors throughout the country.

Every Altius vendor that complies with CDM core criteria has their details loaded (at no additional cost) into the new SSIP Portal database (appropriately designated as a Contractor, Principal Contractor, CDM Coordinator, or CDM Designer), alongside those assessed by Chas, SafeContractor, and the other SSIP members.

The SSIP Portal, built by Altius on behalf of SSIP, is set to become the first port of call for the construction industry when checking the status of contractors and consultants. If you need to make such checks, you might wish to consider a subscription to the SSIP Portal for just £100+VAT per company per annum (and if you sign up by the end of June 2001, you’ll get 15 months for the price of 12). This will enable you to check the status of contractors and consultants, to see if they have met the Stage 1 criteria. All revenues from the Portal will be used to help SSIP provide even greater savings to the industry in the future.

If you’re a client who requires a more in-depth assessment on your contractors and access to their profiles online, you may also wish to consider joining Altius as a buying organisation. Please get in touch, we would be happy to hear from you.

There’s even more good news! Other members of SSIP (CHAS, Constructionline, Exor, SafeContractor, NHBC, Eurosafe, to name but a few) will accept your Altius status for a reduced fee and a reduced assessment should your clients still require you to carry their certification.

For more information, check out www.ssip.org.uk, or if you’re interested in signing up as a buyer, go to www.ssipportal.org.uk and click on the ‘Join’ link.
