HSE announces spot safety visits to construction sites

Posted by Altius on Feb 25, 2013 9:36:48 AM

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has started a month-long drive to address unsafe practices on construction sites as part of a national initiative aimed at reducing death, injury and ill health.

Between 18 February and 15 March, inspectors will make unannounced visits to construction sites where refurbishment or repair works are taking place to observe how well they are managing high-risk activity, such as working at height.

HSE say that they will also check for general good order, assess welfare facilities and check whether suitable personal protective equipment such as head protection, is being used appropriately.
